CASEL
At the International Schools of Kenana (ISK), we are passionate advocates for the integration of social and emotional learning into education from preschool to high school. As such, we fully embrace the CASEL initiative and its motto of “Educating Hearts, Inspiring Minds.” To achieve the goals of CASEL, our school has implemented the following:
Community Service:
We encourage our students to develop a stronger bond with humanity and cultivate empathy, tolerance, and responsiveness to diverse social and cultural groups through participation in community service programs.
Character Education:
We focus on instilling positive character traits, such as respect, responsibility, kindness, and perseverance, in our students. These traits are integrated into our daily curriculum and extracurricular activities.
Positive School Climate:
We strive to create a positive school climate that fosters a sense of belonging, safety, and respect among students, teachers, and staff. This includes implementing restorative justice practices and promoting mental health and wellbeing through counseling services and mindfulness activities.
School Counselor:
Our school counselor is responsible for designing and following up on adaptation plans, in addition to holding group therapy sessions for girls and boys. The school counselor also holds several awareness campaigns, such as “Protect Yourself”, “Anti-bullying Campaign,” and “Social Media Safety,” and provides individual sessions whenever needed.
Students’ Union:
We hold annual elections for the Students’ Union to train students on leadership skills, teamwork, reliability, and responsibility. The Students’ Union organizes a set of committees, including Trips, Media, Student Support, and Creative Genres, to promote student involvement and engagement in school activities.
At ISK, we believe that social and emotional learning is an essential component of a well-rounded education, and we are committed to helping our students develop the necessary skills and qualities to become successful and responsible members of society.
